My name is Nikole Wohlmacher. I graduated from Salve Regina University in May of 2015, with a double major in Studio Art: Graphic Design and Interactive Communication Technology. I recently completed a Design Internship at Colourworks, a strategic brand experience company, in Cape Town, South Africa, during the summer of 2014. Through this internship I gained in-house studio experience conceptualizing the look and feel for a pizza restaurant in Kenya and assisted in the re-brand of Cherry Blossom Communications. Currently, I am freelancing for a business assisting in the development of their brand identity. I was involved in my University’s campus life, designing promotional posters, handbills, booklets, t-shirts, and campaigns for AIGA (Graphic Design Club), Campus Activities Board (CAB), Office of Student Activities, Global Citizens Club, Study Abroad Student Association, Dance Marathon, and WSRU Radio. My interest for international education ignited after I studied abroad for a semester at Massey University’s College of Creative Arts in Wellington, New Zealand. Since then I have become a Global Ambassador promoting global education on campus, and an International Student Mentor, assisting international students at my University adjust to life in the United States.
I grew up in Long Island, New York before leaving to attend Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. It seems I can’t get away from the island life, especially after I was able to study in the North Island of New Zealand. Upon completing my program I was able to travel the South Island of New Zealand for a month with just a car and a tent, fulfilling my natural love for adventure and the outdoors. While traveling I hiked Fox Glacier, went Black Water Rafting in the Waitomo Caves, took kiteboarding lessons, and kayaked with wild killer whales. New Zealand definitely stole my heart as a girl who loves anything that gets your adrenaline going outdoors. If I’m not working on my next project I will be hiking, biking, surfing, skiing, or camping. After meeting hundreds of people and learning about their incredible stories on my month long camping trip I knew my heart was set on combining my passion for design with my curiosity for culture.
I enjoy producing creative solutions people develop an emotional connection to. I want to make people aware of global issues and break down cultural barriers through design. I love learning from new relationships and sharing my passion to communicate through good design.
