GRAPHIC DESIGNER National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Lander, Wyoming
September 2016 - Present

NOLS emboldens students who are 14 and older to be leaders, preparing students with leadership and communication skills internationally on backcountry expeditions. I was hired after a six month internship to help lead the in-house design team during the rebranding of NOLS, implementing the new brand through print and digital pieces.

  • Furthered the strategic plan, “extending NOLS’ influence with improved marketing”  by maintaining consistency among brand pieces to attract the target audience. I improved workflow by organizing new brand elements on the Adobe Creative Cloud, developed guidelines for web display ads, developed graph standards, and created new brand illustrations.
  • Acquired the responsibility of scheduling, planning, and managing independent and team projects from start to finish, making tight deadlines for a variety of projects in an organized manner. These projects included a lead design role in a campaign involving three team members.
  • Handled all communication with several printers for assigned projects, including request for quotes, setting up preflight files, and attending press checks.
  • Developed a strong ability to pitch and articulate ideas to the team while also listening closely and processing feedback. I pushed for different solutions to visually represent the new brand in engaging ways.
  • Participated in creating a company work culture through planning and leading team bonding events for the Creative Team.
  • Developed UX design skills through a Nielsen Norman Group Training by my supervisor and I am in the process of completing the Hubspot Design Certification. These UX skills were implemented in the creation of landing pages, optimizing web display ads for A/B testing, and designing the NOLS website in the custom CMS.
  • Currently Improving the brands visual identity and learning more about wayfinding design by working with a team of two other designers to develop a signage system for NOLS International Headquarters.
